Blurred Boundaries

I recently completed my PhD at Bath Spa University. During an exhibition, which opened on 28th September at Bath School of Art & Design, I presented aspects of my research within a spatial installation, employing multiple projections and layers of transparent, printed material.

collaboration with choreographer

In April I started a collaborative project with choreographer and researcher Chrissie Harrington. During an experimental workshop our explorations focused on the creation of space and movement by applying projections on moving performers and textile panels, generating virtual worlds which either dissolve or emphasis the human body.

This blog is about my research as textile designer and artist, which focuses on the fusion of digital imagery and physical surface. Currently I am working with projections. I explore visual ambiguities resulting from this synthesis of material, light and space - playing on our visual perception.

My interest in the illusionary started when experimenting with projections onto the human body. Here the projected image created something like a virtual imprint on the skin – looking deceivingly real, but being of temporary and ephemeral existence, leaving no trace.
